Callas said China benefits from trade wars between the United States and its allies

China benefits from the ongoing trade wars between the United States and its allies. This was announced on March 14 by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, in an interview with Bloomberg.
"Who's laughing from the side <...> so this is China. He really benefits from the fact that the United States is waging a trade war with Europe," Kallas said at the G7 meeting in Canada.
Callas said this after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose 200 percent tariffs on alcoholic beverages coming from France and other European Union (EU) countries. According to her, the EU is ready to take retaliatory measures.
She also noted that it is necessary to be more restrained, as trade wars often lead to peaks in inflation, which harm consumers.
"We keep our cool and, of course, we are ready to act and defend our interests when we need to," Kallas stressed.
Earlier, on March 13, Trump posted on the Truth Social network about the introduction of 200 percent tariffs on alcoholic beverages from France and other EU countries in response to the introduction of a 50% whiskey duty in America. He also noted that these actions will have a positive impact on the US economy.
