An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 occurred in Kamchatka


An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 was recorded near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This was announced on March 14 in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region in Telegram.
The ministry clarified that the tremors occurred in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
"The seismic event occurred this afternoon, March 14, at a depth of 43 km. Its magnitude was 5.1. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a distance of 94 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky," the report says.
The palpability of fluctuations reached four points in the metropolitan area, and three points in Yelizovo and Vilyuchinsk. No possible casualties or damage were reported.
Earlier, on February 28, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 and a depth of 5 km occurred on Sakhalin. It was felt on the territory of two settlements. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties or damage. The situation is being monitored by employees of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations.
