- The media learned about the US plans to tighten sanctions against banks and the Russian energy sector

The administration of US President Donald Trump has decided to impose additional restrictions on Russia's oil, gas and banking sectors. This was reported on March 13 by the CBS News channel, citing sources.
"The Trump administration is imposing additional restrictions on Russia's oil, gas and banking sectors. This will further limit Russia's access to US payment systems," the article says.
The publication noted that the decision on these restrictions would entail difficulties with the purchase of Russian oil by other countries, which could lead to a jump in oil prices of $ 5 per barrel.
On the same day, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the Trump administration could impose maximum sanctions against Russia to exert stronger pressure. According to him, he was very disappointed with the sanctions imposed by former U.S. President Joe Biden, because, in his opinion, they were not harsh enough.
U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist in Russia) announced on March 9 that he would soon submit to Congress a bill to impose new sanctions against Russia. It was noted that the restrictions will affect the banking and energy sectors.
