More than 15 thousand . bright colors decorated Simferopol before the holiday — the 11th anniversary of the reunification of Crimea with Russia. Pots with violas appeared on the central streets, the press service of the city administration reported on Thursday, March 13.

Employees of Gorzelenkhoz prepared the seedlings in advance, writes IA SevastopolMedia. They have installed more than 880 planters with flowers of different shades, which will give guests and residents a spring mood.

The Day of the reunification of Crimea with Russia is celebrated in the republic annually on March 18, it is an official weekend in the region. On this day in 2014, President Vladimir Putin signed an agreement between Russia and Crimea on the peninsula's entry into the Russian Federation as an equal entity.

Crimea became part of Russia in 2014 after a referendum in which the majority of the peninsula's inhabitants voted for reunification with the Russian Federation. Kiev refuses to recognize the results of the vote and considers Crimea its territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the residents of Crimea democratically voted for reunification in full accordance with international law and the issue of the peninsula's ownership is finally closed.
