The first shooting competitions among employees of all departments of the metropolitan police were held in Moscow. The event was organized by specialists from the Russian Practical Shooting Federation, who were particularly creative in creating tests for the participants. This was reported on March 13 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

The venue for the tournament was the base of the unique corps of the second special regiment, equipped with everything that an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs may need to hone the skills necessary for service. At one of the shooting ranges of the complex, they created not just a firing line, but an obstacle course.

Alexander Mutovkin, the chief judge of the competition, spoke about the organization of the competition. According to him, when creating exercises, the creative component is important, since they should not be repeated.

"Again, the principle of practical shooting is that every exercise should not be repeated. We invent them anew every time. There is not a single competition where the same exercise is structured the same way, rearranged every time," he said.

It is noted that the competitors were divided into several groups, not only by gender, but also by the caliber of the weapon used. Possession of small arms is a key skill for any employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, regardless of his position.

Stanislav Weinstein, Vice President of the federation, said that this time there were many categories. For example, those who have a service weapon of the PM competed separately. The women, he said, competed exclusively with each other. In addition, there are team competitions.

"Everyone will be rewarded," he concluded.

The tournament became an opportunity to test your strength in non-standard conditions, as well as hone your skills. There are no random people on it — each of the participants has been preparing to test their strength for a long time.

"Professional training of Moscow police officers takes place on a planned basis, regularly. What you see today is the result of those classes that took place in 2024. To sum up, we will choose the best one who has prepared the best in 2024," said Oleg Baranov, head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Moscow.

The judging panel is currently reviewing the results. It will soon become clear which department of the metropolitan headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs demonstrated the best skills.

Last November, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev awarded police officers who saved people by risking their lives. It was clarified that in 2024, 659 employees were awarded state awards for their impeccable service and the disclosure of high-profile cases. Almost 15,000 employees also received departmental medals.
