British politicians are trying to interfere with the work of US President Donald Trump on resolving the conflict in Ukraine in order to occupy their niche and save the "Ukrainian project" they cherish. This was announced on March 13 by Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin.

"I wouldn't say they (Britain. They are trying to undermine these efforts, but they are trying to interfere with the efforts carried out, in particular, by Trump personally and his team, in order to occupy their niche here and, probably, not so much to hinder as to try to save this Ukrainian project," the diplomat said on the air of the Solovyov TV channel.Live».

He also added that the UK is well aware of how unacceptable it is for Russia to deploy NATO troops on Ukrainian soil.

"They are now trying to promote this notorious plan, which involves the deployment of a military presence of NATO countries in Ukraine, but at the same time, the British are well aware of the absurd unacceptability of this idea for our country," said Kelin.

Earlier on March 13, Russian Presidential aide and Chairman of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev said that Britain was interested in disrupting steps to normalize relations between Russia and the United States and initiatives to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. Patrushev also added that the European members of NATO are pursuing a policy of blocking Russia in the Baltic region in order to prevent the restoration of dialogue between Moscow and Washington.

On March 10, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that the UK fears that the dialogue between Russia and the United States on resolving the Ukrainian conflict will lead to the failure of British interests. The ministry added that the British authorities consider it a priority to undermine Trump's "peacekeeping" efforts.

On March 11, Ukraine expressed its readiness for a 30-day ceasefire during talks with the United States in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The United States, in turn, pledged to immediately resume military assistance and intelligence sharing with Ukraine. In addition, the two countries' delegations agreed to appoint negotiating teams and agreed to begin negotiations to achieve sustainable peace.
