A new ecological route is planned to be created in the Novoorlovsky State Nature Reserve in St. Petersburg by September 2025. This is reported by the press service of the Committee on Environmental Management, Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety.

The length of the new ecotrope will be 2.7 km. Wooden decking, benches and signs will be installed on her way. Interactive zones with information stands will also appear, telling about the flora and fauna of the natural complex.

"Ecotropics have become a real place of attraction for residents and visitors of the city, where you can touch the unique nature of St. Petersburg. Visiting an ecotrope is not only a vacation, but also a powerful tool for environmental education," commented Kirill Soloveitchik, Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Management, as quoted by 78 TV channel.

To date, six ecological routes with a total length of more than 10 km and 17 specially protected natural areas have been organized in St. Petersburg. The total area of the latter is over 9.2 thousand hectares.

By 2030, it is planned to create three more protected areas and more than 10 eco-routes in the Northern Capital. Some of them are organized jointly with the Leningrad region.
