Political scientist, Deputy Director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEMI) HSE Dmitry Suslov expressed the opinion that US President Donald Trump's special envoy Stephen Witkoff would inform the American leader about Russia's demands in response to the idea of a temporary cease-fire in Ukraine.
In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Thursday, March 13, the expert admitted that during Witkoff's visit and, probably, during the subsequent conversation between the presidents of the two countries, the Russian Federation would voice its position, which, in particular, does not exclude a truce, but on certain conditions.
The political scientist also noted that among the conditions is the complete withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the Kursk region, as well as the cessation of military assistance to Kiev from the West during the negotiations.
Suslov added that it is also now important for Russia to agree on the basic principles of a future peaceful settlement with the United States.
Earlier in the day, Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, responding to a question from Izvestia, said that Stephen Witkoff's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin would be held in a closed format on the evening of March 13. The meeting will be held in the Kremlin.
