Those accused of the assassination attempt on the head of the Mariupol police will appear in court

Seven residents of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), accused of making an attempt on the life of the Mariupol police chief Mikhail Moskvin and planning to blow up the car of the deputy commander of a unit in the Kuban, are awaiting trial. This was announced on March 13 by the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC RF).

According to the investigation, the defendants participated in a terrorist community and are accused of committing a terrorist act, as well as of illegally acquiring, storing and carrying explosive devices and other serious crimes.

According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, from February 2022 to January 2023, Ukrainian foreign intelligence officers created a terrorist group consisting of more than 10 people in order to carry out attacks on law enforcement officers and military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

"During the specified period of time, the defendants committed two terrorist acts in the city of Mariupol. In both cases, the defendants planted explosive devices under the cars of potential victims, and then brought them home...> remotely activated," the department's Telegram channel says.

In addition, while in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, the suspects monitored the deputy commander for military and political work of military unit 75387 and his family. They planned to carry out a similar terrorist attack, but were detained before their plans were realized.

The assassination attempt on Moskvin took place at the end of March 2023. The bomb fixed under the car went off when the man was nearby. As a result, the head of the police department suffered a slight concussion.

Later, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on the fact of an attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer (Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In April of the same year, the suspects in the assassination attempt on Moskvin were detained on the territory of the DPR. They said they had been recruited by Kiev's military intelligence.
