A resident of the DPR was sentenced to 12 years in prison for spying for Ukraine.

A court in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has sentenced to 12 years in prison a 32-year-old local resident found guilty of spying for Ukraine. This was announced on March 13 by the press service of the Prosecutor's office for the region on the official website.
The court found that in September 2022, the man contacted representatives of a foreign intelligence service by e-mail and informed them that he had information about the coordinates of the deployment of the Russian military in Donetsk. Within a month, he passed this information to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The prosecutor's office said in a statement that the Ukrainian military could use this data to launch fire strikes at the location of the Russian military.
The court found the man guilty under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Espionage"). It is specified that he will serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office announced on March 12 that the Kherson Regional Court had sentenced Oleg Rashchupkin, a 23-year-old local resident, to 12 years in prison for espionage. He collected data on the movements of Russian military and equipment in October and November 2023, and then passed it on to his sister, who sent them to Ukrainian intelligence.
