Artyom Dzyuba, a forward of the Tolyatti football club Akron, joined the Russian national team for friendly matches against the teams of Grenada and Zambia. This was announced on March 13 on the website of the Russian Football Union (RFU).

The team's composition for the first training camp this year was approved by the head coach of the national team, Valery Karpin. The final team consisted of 31 players, one of whom was Dzyuba. He last played for the national team in June 2021 in the European Championship match against Denmark.

Friendly matches of the Russian national team will be held at the Dynamo stadium in Moscow on March 19 and 25.

Prior to that, on March 9, Dzyuba scored the 234th goal of his career during a Russian Premier League (RPL) match with Samara Krylia Sovetov and became the top scorer in the history of Russian football. It was clarified that the athlete broke the record of the former Zenit football player Alexander Kerzhakov, who had 233 goals.

The athlete signed a contract with Akron in September last year. It was noted that the agreement was signed before the end of the 2024/25 season.
