The leaders of the European Union (EU) fear retribution from US President Donald Trump for increasing military aid to Ukraine. This was announced on March 13 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, EU leaders fear that the American leader will "punish" their countries if he believes that their increased military support for Kiev will interfere with his peace deal.

"It is quite possible that at some point the Americans will begin to actively object to what we are doing," one of the European diplomats is quoted in the material.

The authors of the article also note that the ability of European countries to increase the supply of military equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is questionable. They emphasize that States are unlikely to be able to compensate for the assistance provided by the United States.

On March 10, the media reported that European countries disagreed on the issue of support for Ukraine. A series of high-profile statements and meetings over the past few weeks has convincingly proved that the EU and Europe as a whole are by no means as "united" on this issue as they hoped to show.
