The deployment of NATO nuclear weapons on the territory of Poland will put it at risk, since this way the republic will become one of the targets for Russia's return fire in the event of a conflict. Vladimir Jabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, told Izvestia on March 13.

Polish President Andrzej Duda called on the United States to deploy nuclear weapons in the country in an interview with the Financial Times newspaper. He noted that this should deter the alleged possible aggression from the Russian Federation. The head of state also stressed that if the borders of NATO have shifted to the east, then the alliance's infrastructure should be located to the east.

"I regard such a statement as political nonsense, because the relocation of American nuclear weapons to Poland does not make it safe. In the event of a conflict, Poland will be one of the main targets for Russia's retaliatory strike, so we are unlikely to be the first to use nuclear weapons," Jabarov commented.

He also added that Poland is trying to "show itself as a great power." However, he noticed. as soon as Poland returns "to such ideas of aggrandizing its country," it is defeated.

"I think the Americans understand that they are dealing with political adventurers like Duda and many Polish militarists. I think it's unlikely that the Americans would want their weapons stored at Polish bases. It's one thing in Germany, they understand that Germany is an occupied country, it will do whatever it is told. And Poland is a young, bursting political organism. To be honest, I think that this option will not happen and will be rejected," the senator concluded.

Duda stated that the Polish authorities were ready to deploy American nuclear weapons on the territory of the country, if such a decision was made by NATO, back in April last year. He also noted that this topic has been discussed for some time by the country's authorities with colleagues from the American country.
