A criminal case on bribery and fraud has been initiated against the former head of the Russian Interior Ministry department for Rostov-on-Don. This was announced on March 13 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the Rostov region in the Telegram channel.

"A criminal case has been opened against <...> the head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Rostov-on-Don, suspected of committing crimes under paragraph "b" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code ("Receiving a bribe"), part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code ("Fraud")," the statement said..

It is specified that the person involved received a bribe in the form of payment for vouchers in the amount of more than 263 thousand rubles for the patronage of one of the commercial organizations. The suspect also paid an illegal salary to his subordinate, although he was absent from the workplace. The total amount of such payments amounted to more than 292 thousand rubles.

In addition, a case was opened against an operative of one of the police departments suspected of crimes under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code ("Fraud") and Part 1 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code ("Illegal circulation of funds of payments").

It is noted that the suspects have been detained. Petitions were sent to the court for him to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Earlier, on March 7, it became known that Sergey Matasov, a deputy of the Altai Regional Legislative Assembly, was suspected of major fraud involving fictitious employment of relatives. It was clarified that Matasov had arranged for two of his relatives to serve as deputies' assistants. He also provided forged documents to the legislative Assembly and the Ministry of Finance of the region on the performance of labor functions by relatives.
