Ukraine has exhausted the entire stock of ATACMS long-range missiles that it previously received from the United States. Despite the willingness to conclude a 30-day truce, Kiev refuses to stop mobilization. Britain and France are actively discussing a plan to deploy their troops in Ukraine. What the media write about the situation in the country is in the Izvestia digest.

Associated Press: Ukraine has run out of ATACMS, there were less than 40 units in total

On March 12, Ukrainian and U.S. officials acknowledged that Kiev no longer has long-range ATACMS missiles. According to an American official and a Ukrainian lawmaker in the defense committee, Ukraine has exhausted its supply.

Associated Press

An American official said that the United States had supplied fewer than 40 such missiles in total, and that Ukraine had run out of them at the end of January. Senior U.S. defense officials, including the previous head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, have made it clear that only a limited number of ATACMS will be delivered and that U.S. and NATO allies consider other weapons more valuable in this fight.

Supplies of the remaining weapons to Ukraine resumed through the Polish logistics center. They go through the NATO-US hub in the city of Rzeszow in eastern Poland, which was used to transport Western weapons to neighboring Ukraine. American military assistance is vital in the face of a shortage of people and fatigue in the Ukrainian army, which is having a hard time containing Russia's larger military forces. For the Russian Federation, American aid means potentially more difficulties in achieving military goals.

Reuters: Ukraine is betting on American LNG

This year, Ukraine may import large volumes of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) through terminals in Germany, Greece, Lithuania and Poland. This will strengthen Kiev's economic partnership with Washington. According to Ukrainian representatives, the country can import at least 4 billion cubic meters of gas in the period from April to October.

The total cost of imports will be at least $1 billion. Of the total imports through Europe, up to half will be LNG delivered to European terminals, rather than pipeline gas, and <...> most of this volume may come from the United States.

According to energy officials, by mid-October Ukraine needs to have at least 13 billion cubic meters of gas in reserve for the normal winter season. The geopolitical situation leads to the fact that American LNG may be preferable to competing Qatari LNG, provided that the price difference is not significant.

A country.ua: the deputy of Rada declared that Ukraine shouldn't stop mobilization

Roman Kostenko, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, said that there was no need to stop mobilization in the country, even if a 30-day truce could be achieved. According to him, preliminary agreements with foreign partners on the possibility of a truce are not enough.

Kostenko added that the truce could break down at any moment and it would be difficult to prove who violated it first. "You can't say that, like, let's just stop shooting for 30 days. If the truce takes place, then it is necessary to prescribe specific steps, who is responsible for what," the MP stressed.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed his agreement to accept the US proposal for a complete ceasefire. At the same time, he added that martial law will be lifted only after the end of the conflict, and not a truce, which precludes holding elections until then.

Bloomberg: Britain and France are competing to develop a plan to send troops to Ukraine

London and Paris are making efforts to strengthen Ukraine's negotiating position. The two only nuclear powers in Europe are trying to develop a plan that will help guarantee Kiev's security. According to sources, in the coming days, military leaders will present British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron with more detailed options for a peacekeeping force, which will be discussed with other leaders during a virtual meeting this weekend.

They will then present them to [US President Donald] Trump, who they hope will be persuaded to provide US security guarantees in the form of air power, intelligence, and border control without the need for American troops to join the peacekeeping force.

Officials believe that the agreement between the United States and Ukraine on a 30-day cessation of the conflict, combined with the development of plans for a peacekeeping force, will increase pressure on Russia. At the same time, Britain and France also do not want the United States to give in to demands for the demilitarization of Ukraine and force Zelensky to hold elections before a permanent peace agreement is agreed.

Politico: Starmer restored Trump-Zelensky relationship

Starmer and one of his most trusted advisers have been working intensively over the past week on a draft ceasefire agreement. First, they had to convince Trump and Zelensky to put aside their dispute in the Oval Office and re-engage in a peaceful settlement. After the talks in Saudi Arabia, Starmer sent congratulations to Trump and Zelensky on WhatsApp messenger.

The furious scene between Trump and Zelensky presented the prime minister with a terrible choice. He couldn't openly criticize Trump and [U.S. Vice President J.D.] Vance so soon after his own [mutual understanding] visit to the White House, but he still wanted to show support for Ukraine and keep European leaders trying to act as a "bridge" between Europe and a now highly unstable America.

Instead of joining the hype on social media, Starmer chose the mildest option, posting a statement from his press secretary about his "unwavering support" for Ukraine. He held telephone conversations with Trump and Zelensky and began working on a plan. On the eve of the crucial talks in Saudi Arabia, Starmer called Trump again with a request to resume military aid supplies and intelligence sharing.
