The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) welcomes the signing of the agreement on the state border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. This was announced on March 13 in a statement by the organization's secretariat.
"Thanks to the consistent efforts and political will of the Leaders of the two countries, the line of passage of the state border along its entire almost thousand—kilometer length was agreed upon," the publication says.
According to the statement, the resolution of border issues between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will contribute to improving security in the CSTO area of responsibility and fulfilling the tasks facing the organization.
The signing of the agreement was also approved by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). This document has become "a symbol of the parties' goodwill towards a peaceful resolution of issues."
"The SCO member states note the special significance of the signed agreement and consider it as a valuable contribution to peace, security and stability in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," the organization's Telegram channel says.
On the same day, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmonov signed an agreement on the border line between the two countries. We are talking about the checkpoints "Kairagach" and "Kyzyl-Bel". The border has been closed since 2021.
