The Lada Iskra model, which is scheduled to be launched on April 19, 2025, has successfully passed a set of factory and certification tests. 98 Iskra prototypes in various modifications were made for them, AvtoVAZ said in a statement received by Izvestia on March 13.

Road and off-road tests were conducted at AVTOVAZ's own testing ground, as well as in mountainous and northern regions. The company said that apart from Lada, no brands in Russia test cars, including on real roads in the country, covering all types of pavement — from perfect asphalt to broken country lanes.

Laboratory tests included both vehicle tests and bench tests of its components and systems. A wind tunnel, an anechoic chamber for vibroacoustic tests, an electromagnetic compatibility laboratory and an aeroclimatic chamber were involved.

"During the refinement of the Lada Iskra design, engineers achieved high levels of controllability and adaptation to the Russian climate, low aerodynamic noise, optimal sound quality of the audio system and stable operation of the telephone communication system," the company said.

During the tests, 84 crash tests of the car and its individual systems were conducted. AvtoVAZ stated that Iskra "significantly exceeds national safety requirements." Additionally, shock tests were conducted on independent programs — here Iskra showed the level of Vesta, as well as foreign analogues of the budget B-class, the company noted.

Lada Iskra will occupy a market niche between the Granta and Vesta families, the model will be available in sedan, station wagon and station wagon Cross bodies. The car will receive 1.6-liter engines that will be combined with a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission, as well as a continuously variable transmission.

On March 3, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, announced that in June 2025 AvtoVAZ would hold the world premiere of a new crossover created by engineers on the Vesta platform. The start of its production is scheduled for 2026.

On February 28, AvtoVAZ showed the interior design of the Lada Iskra production model. The car is designed taking into account the preferences of young customers, the company said.
