In France, the National Assembly (the lower house of parliament) approved a resolution on increasing financial assistance to Ukraine, as well as the seizure of frozen Russian assets. The live broadcast on March 13 was conducted on the official website of the chamber.

It is noted that 288 deputies voted for the initiative, and 54 deputies voted against it.

According to the newspaper Le Figaro, with the help of these measures, the deputies intend to put pressure on the government, which opposes the complete confiscation of frozen Russian assets.

On the eve of the official representative of the French government, Minister Delegate Sophie Prima said that Paris currently opposes the confiscation of Russian assets, but is exploring such a possibility in the future. It was noted that the measure could have "systemic effects" for the French and European economies.

Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 3 that attempts to seize Russia's frozen assets for transfer to Ukraine would have serious legal consequences. He noted that there have been more and more such ideas in the West lately.
