Over the past day, 205 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 25 people were killed and 245 injured. 19 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles. This was reported to Izvestia on Thursday, March 13, by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.

22 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 23 more road users, including two children, required medical attention. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations by their drivers.

As a result of 57 accidents, 24 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 33 outside their area of operation, six pedestrians were killed, 53 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 12 child pedestrians. Half of the injured child pedestrians were injured at pedestrian crossings. On Wednesday, 24 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 26 young road users were injured, including 14 child passengers. There are no dead children.

In some regions of the country, traffic is temporarily blocked or restricted for certain categories of vehicles due to adverse weather conditions. For example, in the Jewish Autonomous Region, bus traffic has been temporarily restricted since yesterday morning due to a snowfall on the more than 350-kilometer section of the federal highway R-297 Amur (Chita - Khabarovsk) from 1752 km to 2103 km, as well as three highways of regional significance.

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, traffic on two regional highways has been completely stopped since the night due to worsening weather in the form of snow, a low-level blizzard and gusty winds: Norilsk — Norilsk Airport from 5 to 22 km and Dudinka — Norilsk Airport from 0 to 23 km.In the Kurgan region, for the same reasons, two sections of the federal highway R-254 "Irtysh" have been temporarily closed since tonight: from 350 to 465 km, and also at the entrance to the city of Ishim from 396 km to 479 km.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists, when planning long-distance trips in these and neighboring regions, monitor the weather forecast and media information from traffic closures and restrictions. In case of a negative forecast, strong wind and snowfall, you should temporarily refrain from using personal vehicles, and in urban conditions, use public transport services.

"We would like to draw the attention of drivers to the fact that during the changing seasons, they should be extremely careful when driving: avoid sudden rash maneuvers and changes of lanes, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, and do not exceed the speed limit. It is necessary to travel by car at any time of the day with external lighting devices turned on, fog lights must be used in bad weather, and in conditions of heavy fog or snowfall, reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on. In case of an accident, it is necessary to identify the scene, call the State Traffic Inspectorate, and if there are victims, an ambulance team," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the department for road Safety Promotion and prevention of child traffic injuries at the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

The day before, it was reported that in January-February 2025, the number of accidents on the MKAD decreased by 34% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, the number of deaths in such accidents decreased by 40%.
