Australia may revoke the visa of an American blogger for catching a wombat

Australia is considering canceling the visa of American blogger Sam Jones for filming during which she snatched a baby wombat from its mother. This was reported on March 13 by The Guardian.

"For anyone concerned about the situation, it should be noted that the cub was carefully held for a total of 1 minute, and then released back to his mother," the blogger wrote.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong called Jones' actions "pretty terrible."

It is noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is considering the case of the blogger's visa to determine the violation committed within the framework of immigration legislation.

In the filmed video, Jones can be seen running along the road to the car from which she is being filmed, holding a cub in her arms.

"Okay, Mom's right there, and she's mad," Jones said in the video as the animal's mother approached her.

After that, the blogger left the cub on the side of the road.

The video was posted on Jones' Instragam page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). Subsequently, her account was deleted due to the scandal with the baby wombat.
