The UK is interested in disrupting steps to normalize relations between Russia and the United States and initiatives to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. This was announced on March 13 by Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Maritime Board.

"The current escalation of the situation is orchestrated by London, which is interested in disrupting steps to normalize Russian-American relations, as well as negotiations on Ukraine," he said in an interview with the National Defense newspaper.

Patrushev also added that the European members of NATO are pursuing a policy of blocking Russia in the Baltic region in order to prevent the restoration of dialogue between Moscow and Washington.

"The North Atlantic Alliance has traditionally used threats as the main instrument of interstate relations," he stressed.

On March 10, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that the UK fears that the dialogue between Russia and the United States on resolving the Ukrainian conflict will lead to the failure of British interests. The ministry added that the British authorities consider it a priority to undermine the "peacekeeping" efforts of American leader Donald Trump.

On March 6, Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin also noted that the United Kingdom stands at the head of opponents of a quick settlement in Ukraine.
