US President Donald Trump most likely did not extend the license of the United States Department of the Treasury, which allowed foreign companies to make payments for Russian energy resources through sanctioned banks, but this issue is being clarified. This was announced on March 12 by White House press Secretary Carolyn Levitt in an interview with Fox News.

"Well, I do not know if the president did it or not. Based on my understanding, he didn't do it. <...> But I can certainly double—check and give you an answer," she said.

At the same time, Levitt clarified that this issue is under the jurisdiction of the US Treasury Department.

On March 9, Senator Lindsey Graham of the Republican Party of the United States (listed in Russia as a terrorist and extremist) announced that he would soon submit to Congress a bill on the introduction of new sanctions against Russia. It was noted that the restrictions will affect the banking and energy sectors.
