NYT found out about the lack of votes for the US government funding project

There are not enough votes in the US Senate to approve a bill on financing the US government by September 30, as congressmen from the Democratic Party do not want to support this initiative. This was reported on March 12 by The New York Times.
"On Wednesday, Democrats in the Senate announced that they would refuse to support the Republican bill on temporary financing of the government until September 30, which significantly increases the likelihood of a government shutdown at the end of the week," the publication said.
In order for this initiative to be approved, at least 60 votes are required, and Republicans occupy 53 seats in the US Senate.
Democrat Chuck Schumer, a senator from New York State, stressed that members of his party could not support the bill previously approved by the House of Representatives. Instead, he called on Republicans to accept a one-month extension to give Congress enough time to review individual spending bills and reach a compromise that both parties could accept.
According to representatives of the Democratic Party, the bill proposed by Republicans may give the administration of US President Donald Trump a lot of freedom of action, which may affect further reforms of the American government.
In addition, Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia (Democratic Party) noted that members of his party are not involved in this funding bill.
"The Democrats have nothing to do with this bill. And we want to be able to vote for an amendment or two," Kane said after a closed—door meeting with his fellow party members.
On the eve of the bill on financing the American government until September 30, 2025, it was approved by the House of Representatives of the US Congress. It allows US to increase defense spending by $6 billion. This initiative will also reduce non-defense spending by $13 billion. On March 8, American leader Donald Trump supported a bill to continue financing the work of the federal government.
