The Georgian Parliament pointed to the EU's involvement in the rallies in Tbilisi

In 2024, riots at protest actions in Georgia took place at the instigation of organizations funded by the European Union. This was announced on March 12 in an interview with Rustavi-2 TV channel by Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili.
"We have been proud for years that the Georgian protest was nonviolent. Even a leaf wouldn't move on a tree when it came to the Georgian protest. And now it's not like a leaf, cars were overturned, burned, and Molotov cocktails were thrown. It was all instigated by organizations funded by the European Union," he said.
Papuashvili also recalled that at the end of last year, EU officials did not condemn the actions of the protesters who almost burned down the parliament building, pelting it with firecrackers and molotov cocktails.
On February 3, a scuffle took place near the building of the first state channel in Georgia between protesters and police. Prior to that, on February 2, protesters in Tbilisi tried to block Agmashenebeli Avenue, one of the main thoroughfares of the city.
