Dmitry Mezentsev, Secretary of State of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, also took part in the event. According to him, some of the copies are "Cosmos. The dream of mankind..." came off the printing press the day before.

"There's a story on 50 printed sheets about how the idea was born. From the proposals of Kazimir Semenovich, expressed in the XVI century, to the works and ideas of [Konstantin] Tsiolkovsky. But today this book opens with the chapter "Heirs of the pioneers", photographs by [Yuri] Gagarin and [Valentina] Tereshkova, supported by photographs of Oleg Novitsky and Maria Vasilevskaya, photographs of the meeting between [Russian President] Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and [President of Belarus] Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko at the Svobodny cosmodrome in the Amur region. This is also unity. The unity of traditions that unite Belarus and Russia," he stressed.

Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, noted that writers need readers and circulations. According to him, the Belarusian market will not give local authors the opportunity to self-actualize. Thus, he noted that cooperation between Moscow and Minsk is necessary.

This year, the project is preparing to release books such as "Defending the Fatherland. The Path to Victory" in 2 volumes, "The Glorious Names of the Fatherland. The winning Generals: I.F. Paskevich and P.A. Rumyantsev" with the inclusion of archival documents, in particular, from the funds of the State Institution "National Historical Archive of Belarus", "Peaceful Atom: myths, facts, reality" about the history of peaceful atom, as well as "Cultural heritage: architectural monuments" about iconic cultural monuments with a rich history in Belarus and Russia.

The purpose of the Library of the Union State project is to support and publish fundamental research on key pages of the joint historical path of Russia and Belarus, as well as prospects for the development of bilateral integration and the construction of the Union State. The project presents vivid pages of the history of Moscow and Minsk, reliable materials about the heroic past of the peoples, national ways and traditions, as well as about culture and spiritual "bonds" that bind Belarusians and Russians.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting of the Supreme State Council on December 6 that signing the union treaty with Russia was the right decision, because only in cooperation Moscow and Minsk can realize their potential. The Head of State noted the power and mutual attraction of bilateral relations based on common language, culture, history and scientific and technical base. In particular, Lukashenko stressed the creation of a unique economic space of states in the world.
