Vance announced face-to-face and telephone contacts with Russia on Ukraine


Representatives of the United States and Russia will hold face-to-face and telephone contacts on the Ukrainian issue in the next few days. This was announced on March 12 by American Vice President Jay Dee Vance during a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin at the White House.
"We are having conversations [with Russian representatives] by phone and personally with our representatives in the next few days," he said at the event, which was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the British newspaper The Sun.
The vice president added that the United States is in a favorable position after Ukraine expressed its readiness for a cease-fire.
Earlier, on March 11, US President Donald Trump announced that he intends to obtain the consent of Russian leader Vladimir Putin for a cease-fire in Ukraine. He stressed that he was going to have a conversation with the Russian president this week. According to Trump, representatives of the countries will meet in the next few days to discuss the Ukrainian conflict.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that in the near future Russia is scheduled to have contacts with representatives of the United States, where Moscow expects to receive information on the results of the meeting of the Ukrainian and American delegations, which took place in the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on March 11.
