The most stolen cars in Russia in 2024 are named

Hyundai and Chery became the most stolen cars in Russia by the end of 2024, Sergey Yefremov, Director of Asset Protection at the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA), said on March 12.

As Yefremov said in an interview with Lenta.Ru In total, over 350 cars, both passenger cars and trucks, were stolen last year. The most popular cars among the hijackers were Chery and Hyundai brands, Kia and Lada brands were also included in the anti-rating.

According to the expert, the main reason for the hijackings was the shortage of spare parts and the timing of their deliveries to Russia. Registered hijackings, in his opinion, mainly affect Korean models such as Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento.

He noted that some premium models from China, as well as domestic cars, can also be stolen on order. To protect themselves, the specialist recommended that car owners not leave the car unattended for a long time.
