The infectious disease specialist told what to do with a tick bite

Infectious disease specialist Evgeny Timakov told Izvestia on March 12 about a number of rules that must be followed to minimize the negative effects of a tick bite. According to him, the most important thing is to try not to scare the arthropod.
"The most important thing is not to scare the tick. What does it mean? The fact is that if you and I crush a tick, pour oil on it, and so on, it can regurgitate what it has eaten <...> along with the infection," he explained.
Timakov clarified that the tick can be unscrewed with a special loop or seek help from the nearest medical facility. After removal, the arthropod must be sent for laboratory examination in order to begin timely treatment in case the tick carries any disease.
The infectious disease specialist recalled that ticks can be found in parks in the city. In order to avoid bites, you should choose closed clothes and treat shoes with special repellents.
Arthropods can also hide in fallen leaves and be active in the area of manholes and heating mains. In addition, they can be carried by pets, which should also be treated for parasites.
On February 24, general practitioner Natalia Leontieva spoke about precautions that will help protect yourself and your loved ones from tick-borne encephalitis. The most reliable way, according to her, is vaccination, her courses consist of several vaccinations. It is important to start it in advance, before the start of the tick activity season, the doctor added.
