President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced at a briefing on March 12 the intention of the Ukrainian side to demonstrate its readiness for peace.

"And I think we should have demonstrated our readiness today. Not only what we have, what we live in, but to demonstrate it informatively and really demonstrate it to the whole world. And I think we've done it. And this is the most important thing for me," he said.

The Ukrainian leader also announced Ukraine's readiness for a ceasefire for a period of 30 days.

He added that the United States expected Ukraine to demonstrate its readiness for a quick end to the conflict. In response, the American side promised to resume assistance to Ukraine. According to him, both sides fulfilled their obligations.

Speaking about the recent conversation with the United States, the Ukrainian president described it as constructive and noted that it was the first dialogue with such a positive outcome.

On March 11, Ukraine expressed its readiness for a 30-day ceasefire during talks with the United States in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The United States, in turn, pledged to immediately resume military assistance and intelligence sharing with Ukraine. In addition, the two countries' delegations agreed to appoint negotiating teams and agreed to begin negotiations to achieve sustainable peace.

On the same day, US President Donald Trump announced that he intended to get Russian leader Vladimir Putin's consent to a cease-fire in Ukraine. He stressed that he was going to have a conversation with the Russian president this week. According to Trump, representatives of the countries will meet next week to discuss the Ukrainian conflict.
