An official in Dagestan was detained in a case of abuse of office

The Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan has opened a criminal case against the director of the municipal autonomous institution Gorservice on suspicion of abuse of office. This was reported on March 12 in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic.

During the investigation, it was established that from February 2021 to May 2023, the suspect, in prior agreement with employees of the Derbent administration, illegally transported municipal solid waste (MSW) that had formed on the territory of the city to an unauthorized landfill.

According to the rules for handling MSW, approved by orders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Dagestan, the institution was supposed to transport waste to a licensed landfill "Green-Tau" located in the Pushkin Tau mountain area of the city of Izberbash. Further processing, disposal, neutralization and burial were to be carried out there.

According to the investigation, by his actions, the suspect caused damage to the state totaling more than 9 billion rubles.

"During the searches, documentation and cash were seized, including in foreign currency. At the moment, the person involved has been detained, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure against the suspect is being resolved," the report says.

A criminal case was opened against the suspect on the grounds of a crime under paragraphs "c", "d" and "e" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Abuse of official authority").

Earlier, on March 11, a court in Dagestan sentenced the chief architect of the Khasavyurt district administration, R. E. Arsaev, to three years of probation in a case of abuse of office. According to the press service of the office of the FSB of Russia for the republic, he, using his official position, illegally signed permits for the construction and commissioning of a commercial building on an agricultural land plot.
