- Reuters reported on the possible introduction of new retaliatory duties by Canada for the United States.

Canada will announce on Wednesday, March 12, the introduction of retaliatory measures for the United States in the amount of 29.8 billion Canadian dollars ($20.5 billion), reports Reuters, citing an unnamed official.
The article says that Canada is the largest foreign supplier of steel and aluminum to the United States.
The day before, US President Donald Trump ordered an increase in import duties on Canadian steel and aluminum to 50%, without excluding new restrictions. He described his decision as a reaction to the 25% increase in electricity prices introduced by the Canadian province of Ontario for three American states.
However, on the same day, after talks with the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced the suspension of the surcharge. Later, Trump's adviser Peter Navarro announced the suspension of the increase to 50% of duties for Canada.
