Rubio spoke about the discussion of territorial concessions with Kiev

The American delegation discussed territorial concessions with representatives of Ukraine during the negotiations in Saudi Arabia. This was announced on March 12 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a press conference at the airport in Ireland.

"The main part of our conversation <... It was about those items that should be on the agenda of the [peace] talks when they take place," he said in footage from the event posted on the Fox News YouTube channel.

Commenting on the possible conflict resolution process, the Secretary of State also drew attention to the role of Europe in it. According to him, the issues of European Union sanctions against Russia and frozen assets of the Russian Federation will become part of future peace talks.

In addition, Rubio commented on media reports about the possible visit of the US president's special representative for the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, to Russia. The Secretary of State did not confirm this information, but said that Washington plans to contact Moscow on a possible truce.

"We look forward to Russia's response and strongly urge it to consider ending all hostilities," the head of the State Department stressed.

On the same day, US President Donald Trump announced that he intended to obtain the consent of Russian leader Vladimir Putin for a cease-fire in Ukraine. He stressed that he was going to have a conversation with the Russian president this week. According to Trump, representatives of the countries will meet in the next few days to discuss the Ukrainian conflict.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, said that in the near future Russia is scheduled to have contacts with representatives of the United States, where the Kremlin expects to receive information about the meeting in Jeddah.
