Matvienko proposed to limit university enrollment in unclaimed specialties

The Chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, raised the issue of universities having limited enrollment in unclaimed specialties. She made the corresponding statement on March 12 at a meeting of the meeting on the organization of the Presidential Council on Demography.
"Let's set a goal within five years, it's not done at a click, to reduce enrollment in higher education institutions.<...> According to the right ones, recruit as many as necessary in the right specialties, and no more," she said.
Matvienko also suggested focusing on the development of regional universities.
Ekaterina Bolotova, coordinator of the career guidance festival "Day of Choice" from MAXIMUM Education, told Izvestia on February 28 about how to help teenagers decide on their future profession. According to her, an effective solution would be a personal example — talking about tasks, successes, and the emotions that work evokes. She also advised taking a career guidance test with the teenager.
