200 road accidents have occurred in Russia over the past day

Over the past day, 200 accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 15 people were killed and 242 injured. 12 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on Wednesday, March 12, by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.
18 bus accidents were recorded, in which one person was killed, and another 20 road users, including one child, were injured. 50% of bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers. As a result of 73 accidents, 36 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 37 outside their area of operation, three pedestrians were killed, and 71 more were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 16 children among the injured pedestrians, while seven incidents involving them occurred at pedestrian crossings.
So, in Veliky Novgorod, a female passenger car driver collided in the morning with an electric scooter driven by a 15-year-old schoolboy who was crossing the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing without dismounting. As a result of the accident, the ninth-grader was injured and ended up in the hospital. The teenager rode an electric scooter without a protective helmet.
Over the past day, 28 accidents involving minors have been registered, as a result of which 29 young road users, including 11 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.
The State Traffic Inspectorate drew the attention of parents to the need to be more attentive to their children and always try to ensure maximum safety for them on the road. It is necessary to regularly tell them about the rules of the road, the dangers of entering the roadway and the need to comply with the rules of safe behavior when riding bicycles and personal mobility equipment, especially when crossing the road, the department stressed.
"We remind you that a cyclist can only enter public roads when they reach the age of 14, and crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing must be done by dismounting, while driving a bicycle or SIM next to him behind the wheel. In addition, when driving a bicycle or electric scooter, children should wear protective equipment and a helmet, which will help provide them with additional safety in case of any emergency while traveling," a police colonel told Izvestia. Anton Belan.
When driving in a populated area or near pedestrian crossings, drivers should be extremely careful and reduce their speed as much as possible in order to react in time to a possible sudden change in the road situation — the behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, Belan added.
The day before, it was reported that the State Duma proposed to tighten responsibility for refusing to give way to an ambulance and increase the fine several times, and a corresponding bill has been prepared. It is proposed to amend the Administrative Code and impose a fine for refusing to allow an ambulance in the amount of 20 thousand to 30 thousand rubles, as well as provide for the deprivation of rights for a period of three months to two years.
