The FSB detained the general director of the enterprise in the Zaporozhye region for embezzlement of 13 million rubles

The General director of one of the enterprises of the road industry of the Zaporizhia region was detained on suspicion of grand theft. This was announced on March 12 by the Department of the FSB of Russia for the region.

It was established that the detainee overestimated the amount of work performed under the state contract, which led to the embezzlement of budget funds on an especially large scale. The total amount of damage exceeded 13 million rubles.

"Based on the transferred materials of the investigative activities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Zaporizhia region, a criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud")," the agency said in a statement.

Illegal payments amounted to 4.2 million, the investigation believes, and almost left employees of the State Research Institute of Civil Aviation without salaries.

On March 7, Sergey Matasov, a deputy of the Altai Regional Legislative Assembly, is suspected of major fraud involving fictitious employment of relatives. As investigators found out, from 2021 to 2025, while serving as deputy chairman of the Standing Committee of the Altai Regional Legislative Assembly on legal policy and local government, the defendant organized the fictitious employment of two of his relatives as deputies' assistants. Thus, the suspect stole at least 3 million 250 thousand rubles from the regional budget. A criminal case has been opened on this fact.
