Mirra Andreeva reached the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells WTA Tournament


Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva reached the quarterfinals of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament in Indian Wells, beating athlete from Kazakhstan Elena Rybakina. The game took place on March 11th.
The match ended with a score of 6:1, 6:2 in favor of Andreeva, who had the ninth seeding in the tournament.
"I knew that the match would be incredibly difficult. Elena won the title here. She feels comfortable on this court, so I just tuned in and tried to fight for every point," Sport-Express quotes Andreeva as saying.
Andreeva's next game will be with Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
The Indian Wells tournament will end on March 16. Its prize fund is more than $8.9 million.
Earlier, on March 10, Andreeva beat Clara Towson from Denmark and reached the fourth round of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament. She defeated her opponent with a score of 6:3, 6:0.
