In Perm, two Egyptian residents were found guilty of assault and sentenced to 3 and 4 years in a penal colony. This was announced on March 12 by the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Perm Region.
It was established that the attackers attacked the man in order to take over his backpack, which contained a laptop and other equipment. The victim received several blows to the head and body with a bottle and contacted the police.
"A few hours after the crime was committed, officers of the criminal investigation department of the Sverdlovsk district police department identified the defendants and detained them. They turned out to be students from one of the Perm universities born in 2001 and 2002," the department's Telegram channel says.
According to the Interior Ministry, the raiders arrived in Russia to receive higher education. They explained that they were intoxicated during the attack.
The court sentenced the attackers to 3 and 4 years in a penal colony, as well as a fine.
On December 11, 2024, in St. Petersburg, a teenager beat up a pensioner and stole a ring from him. The student was detained, and the item was seized. A criminal case has been opened into the incident under paragraph "d" of Part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Robbery with violence"). In response, the attacker's mother stated that the pensioner had harassed her son.
