FSB officers in Nizhny Novgorod detained a man who was transferring cryptocurrency to the accounts of Ukrainian terrorists. This was announced on Wednesday, March 12, by the FSB Public Relations Center.

It was established that the detainee, at his discretion, established and maintained contact with representatives of the Ukrainian special services and members of a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation in order to provide financial assistance to Ukrainian armed groups.

"The person involved carried out money transfers in crypto currency to the accounts of a terrorist organization," the department said.

The Investigative Department of the FSB of Russia has opened a criminal case under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason"). The defendant was given a preventive measure in the form of detention. The investigation is ongoing.

A day earlier, it was reported that FSB officers had detained a resident of the Belgorod region who was planning to commit a terrorist attack in the city of Valuiki and poison military personnel. He also collected and transmitted data on the locations and movements of military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the border area of the region to attack them.
