Lavrov called what is happening in the United States a "return to normality"

What is happening in the United States can be described as a "return to normalcy." This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with American bloggers on March 12.
Lavrov stressed that earlier in the United States, politics mainly revolved around disputes between the Democratic and Republican parties, but always within the framework of generally accepted traditional values. However, with the advent of neoconservative, particularly neoliberal, ideas, the gap between the parties has become deeper and more noticeable.
"I believe that this gap was primarily due to the departure from the Christian values of the then—ruling Democratic Party," the Foreign Minister explained.
According to him, now a "normal administration" has come to the United States, which does not support anti-Christian ideas. The citizens of the country chose the current American leader, Donald Trump, because they were tired of the "fanatical persistence" with which new "values" were imposed.
In February, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the return of US President Donald Trump to the White House meant a change of milestones in the country's foreign policy. At the same time, Ryabkov pointed out that Russian-American relations remain tense after former US President Joe Biden and his administration set their sights on inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia.
