- The Russian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of crossing the positions of the Russian Federation and the United States

The national interests of Russia and the United States will never completely coincide, but if they overlap somewhere, then this should be used for the benefit of both states. This was stated on March 12 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with American bloggers Mario Naufalu, Larry Johnson and Andrew Napolitano.
"I do not know two people whose views would coincide 100%. The same applies to relations between states," Lavrov stressed.
The Russian Foreign Minister noted that at the meeting in Riyadh, representatives of the American side stated that the basis of American foreign policy under the administration of US President Donald Trump is the protection of national interests. At the same time, as Lavrov clarified, Washington respects the interests of other countries.
"At the same time, Americans understand that other countries also have their own national interests. And with these states that have their own national interests and do not want to be led by others, they are ready for serious negotiations," the minister explained.
According to him, the Russian Federation fully shares this position, and Russian leader Vladimir Putin has adhered to it since his inauguration as head of state.
"Russian President Putin has just such an approach to the implementation of our foreign policy. From the very moment when he became president, he has consistently emphasized in his contacts that we do not impose anything on anyone and strive to find a balance of interests," Lavrov summed up.
The first negotiations between the delegations of Russia and the United States took place in one of the palaces of the royal family in Riyadh on February 18. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov noted that after that, relations between the two countries entered a unique period of development. The White House, in turn, called Russia's position in the negotiations reasonable. Later, on February 27, a meeting of the delegations was also held in Istanbul. It lasted more than six hours and was dedicated to the work of the diplomatic missions of the two states in Washington and Moscow.
