- Giorgescu called the Constitutional Court's decision not to allow him to participate in the elections a blow to democracy.

On March 11, Romanian opposition politician and presidential candidate Calin Georgescu said that the decision of the State Constitutional Court (CC) not to allow him to participate in the elections was a blow to democracy.
"Another direct blow to the heart of democracy all over the world! <...> Democracy in Romania will fall," the politician said on his Facebook page (owned by the recognized extremist Meta company, its activities are banned in the Russian Federation).
In addition, Georgescu added that his supporters need to come out with the support of other politicians. He also called on them to draw up and sign new lists of presidential candidates.
On the same day, the Realitatea Plus TV channel reported that the Constitutional Court of Romania upheld the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Romania, which rejected the registration of opposition politician Calin Georgescu for the presidential election.
On March 9, the CEC refused to register Georgescu, deciding that the documents submitted by him did not comply with the requirements of the law. This decision sparked protests in Bucharest, which escalated into clashes with police, during which 13 gendarmes were injured and three people were detained.
