Finnish telecommunications group Nokia deployed the first cellular network on the Moon as part of the Intuitive Machines IM-2 mission, but it was not possible to make the first ever call from an Earth satellite. This follows from the company's press release published on March 11 on its official website.

It is specified that the call could not be made due to significant power limitations associated with the orientation of the solar panels of the landing module of the Athena spacecraft after landing.

"We have delivered and deployed the first cellular network on the moon, and we are incredibly proud of the results we have achieved despite very difficult circumstances," said Thierry Klein, head of Bell Labs Solutions Research at Nokia.

Earlier, on March 7, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced the failure of the Athena mission after the probe fell on its side onto the surface of the Moon. The organization indicated that they continue to evaluate the information that was obtained during the mission.
