ICC confirms issuance of arrest warrant for ex-President of the Philippines Duterte

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has confirmed the issuance of an arrest warrant for former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on suspicion of crimes against humanity. This was reported on March 11 by the Reuters news agency with reference to the court's press service.

"The Pre—Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Rodrigo Duterte," the statement said.

The court clarified that Duterte is accused of the murders, which he allegedly committed between November 1, 2011 and March 16, 2019.

Earlier in the day, former Philippine President Duterte was detained at Manila airport on an ICC warrant.According to the local newspaper Manila Bulletin, the court's charges against Duterte, who led the country in 2016-2022, are related to his anti-drug campaign.
