The UAZ SGR ("Loaf") family of cars has been produced at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant for 67 years. There are no plans to take the model out of production yet — it will continue to remain on the assembly line as long as there is steady demand. Alexey Spirin, General Director of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, told Izvestia about this in an interview.

The Loaf is a unique off-road vehicle, extremely simple, maintainable in the field, and inexpensive to operate. In the right hands, he is a hard worker, a warrior, a builder, and a doctor. It is not for nothing that UAZ was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for the development and implementation of our classics in production. There is a steady demand for this model, so it will remain on the UAZ assembly line," Spirin said.

"Loaves" and "Hunter" SUVs have changed significantly over their production life, said the head of UAZ. For example, in the UAZ-469, the engine initially had a capacity of 70-80 hp, and now it has 150 hp. These vehicles have supplemented their military use with civilian ones in various industries: now they are in demand in agriculture, oil and gas production, utilities and service services, especially in remote regions of the country with poor roads or places where there are no roads at all, Spirin explained.
