A motorist was sentenced for the death of a teenager in a drunken accident in Partizansk.

A court in Partizansk (Primorsky Krai) sentenced a 40-year-old motorist who, in a state of drug intoxication, knocked down two underage boys on the side of the road and fled the scene of the accident. The regional prosecutor's office announced this on Tuesday, March 11.

The hit-and-run occurred on the evening of October 17, 2024 on Moskovskaya Street. The court found that a man born in 1984 got behind the wheel of a Toyota Levin passenger car in a state of drug intoxication and knocked down two boys born in 2009 and 2013 on the side of the road, after which he disappeared. As a result of the incident, the eldest of the injured children died.

The court found the motorist guilty under clauses "a, b" of Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person committed by a person in a state of intoxication, associated with leaving the place of its commission."

The man was sentenced to nine years in prison to be served in a penal colony, writes IA PrimaMedia. For the next two and a half years, he is forbidden to drive. He also has to pay the injured party more than 1.7 million rubles, and his car was confiscated for state revenue.
