- The Federation Council called fear the reason for Ermak's words about the impossibility of achieving peace through negotiations

The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, says it is impossible to achieve peace with the Russian Federation through negotiations, since he wants the conflict to continue in order to preserve power. Andrey Klimov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, shared this opinion with Izvestia on March 11.
Ermak made the corresponding statement against the background of negotiations between Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia in his column for The Guardian newspaper. The official stressed that the European Union (EU) and the United States should continue sanctions pressure on Russia and transfer proceeds from its frozen assets to the restoration of Ukraine.
"Ermak is saving his own skin, in short. <...> They (Representatives of the Kiev regime. Outside of this bloody conflict, at best, they are wanderers who have no shelter, no security— nothing. And in the worst case for them, they will simply be swatted away like annoying flies," Klimov commented.
In his opinion, for figures like Ermak, the continuation of the military conflict is the basis for further existence. So, the source emphasized, Ermak's statement only confirms this.
"Today, the power in Washington has changed, but the forces that used to rule in Washington are still quite strong in the United States, especially in continental Europe. Therefore, such representatives from Kiev, they want to continue fighting with this Russophobic community, to continue terrorizing Russia, because they were hired to do this at the time," the senator concluded.
Also on Tuesday, Sky News correspondent Alex Rossi reported that American officials have privately stated that they "do not want to hear" any requests from Ukraine to return the country's borders as of 2014 or 2022.
