Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin told Izvestia and Sport-Express on March 11 that the team's support had helped him recover from his injury last November.

Ovechkin missed 16 regular season games due to a fractured fibula. In the away game against Toronto FC (5-2) at the end of December, the Russian scored a goal in the 57th minute into an empty net when the opponent changed the goalkeeper to the sixth fielder.

"It's clear that when you get injured in any way, it doesn't feel good. And first it was necessary to understand the recovery period, and then do everything that was required in such a situation. <...> All this time I was working on myself, making some conclusions. It's good that the recovery went well," the athlete shared.

According to him, the support of the team helped him.

"Of course, it was physically difficult, because training is one thing, but playing when you go out on the ice and there are completely different speeds is another. It must have been hard for five matches, because I had to get into a rhythm again, remember everything I had done before," Ovechkin said.
