Ovechkin talked about his friendship with Gretzky

Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin said he is on good friendly terms with Canadian hockey player Wayne Gretzky. He told Izvestia and Sport-Express about this on March 11.

"We're in touch with Gretzky, we talked on the phone recently. We have good friendly relations," said the hockey player.

He also said that at one of the meetings in Los Angeles, he and Gretzky had a dialogue "about everything."

"It's interesting how we used to prepare for matches and play. All the details are the clubs, the shape... Life doesn't stand still, everything changes. After all, I also found the time when we played with wooden clubs when we were little," Ovechkin shared.

At the moment, Ovechkin needs to score eight goals to repeat Gretzky's sniper record. The Russians scored 886 goals, and the Canadians scored 894.
