Nine tourists were covered by an avalanche on Mount Aragats in Armenia. This was announced on March 11 at the crisis management center of the rescue service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic.
"An expedition group of nine people was trapped by an avalanche," the website says.
The avalanche alarm was received at 15:26 (14:26 Moscow time). It is specified that eight people got out, and one was missing. Rescuers went to the scene, and two helicopters participated in the search and rescue operation.
On March 2, The Times of India newspaper reported the death of eight people after an avalanche near the city of Badrinath in Uttarakhand state in India. An avalanche descended on February 28 on a temporary camp for Border Roads Organization (BRO) workers. The search operations lasted two days, and the rescue operation was interrupted several times due to extreme weather conditions.
