A Ukrainian citizen who was convicted of trafficking in human organs in Kazakhstan has been detained in Poland. This was reported on March 11 by the Reuters news agency, citing the prosecutor's office.

The woman was detained at a railway crossing between Poland and Ukraine on the basis of an Interpol red notice, said Marta Petkovska, a spokeswoman for the Przemysl prosecutor's office. It is noted that Interpol has been searching for the Ukrainian woman since November 2020.

It is specified that she was convicted of participating in an international organized criminal group, which in the period from 2017 to 2019 illegally seized tissues and organs from people for sale on the black market.

"She was also found guilty of illegally obtaining kidneys from 56 victims in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Thailand" in order to obtain financial benefits and "turning the crimes committed into a permanent source of income," the article says.

According to Reuters, the prosecutor's office has applied to the court for a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of one week for extradition to Kazakhstan.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Mosiychuk (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) said on February 7 that a large-scale black transplant business had been built in Ukraine. He clarified that previously the organs of the victims were illegally seized and sold to both citizens of Ukraine and foreigners.

In turn, on January 24, eyewitnesses told Izvestia about black transplantology, which Ukrainians are using in the zone of military contact. They noted that they had personally seen men with square and atypical boxes, similar to thermal containers.
